Hello, I was hoping for some help with a question.
air temp 15 degrees C or so. 1995 BJ250A engine (based on engine number) in a 1999 BJ250C frame (Front drum brakes)
Bike will only start with choke pulled out. But the revs then start to climb quite high and continue to climb and this feels wrong to me, and also it is noisy and annoys my neighbours.
Once it is running I push the choke back in and just hold the throttle open a little to warm it up for about 2 minutes and then drive off.
The choke only has 2 positions, all the way out or all the way in, I cannot leave it set anywhere other than those 2 positions, there is no way to open the choke slightly to feather it a little.
Is there a way to adjust the choke pull to set how much open it is?
I am new to bikes and engines and carburettors but do have some mechanical experience, did some research on line and realise it is an enrichment circuit and not a choke in the traditional sense but I was hoping there was some way to adjust it to control the amount it is open.
Hi Alan, the choke has only two positions. But you can adjust the revs. There is a screw in a feather on the right side of the carburator. You have to loosen the screw, if the revs are too high.
